Spotify entrusted us with a unique challenge: to create a 10-year anniversary celebration for their Australian team that would be more than just an event—it had to be an unforgettable experience. They wanted an occasion that would energise their staff, spark conversations, and make every attendee feel like they were part of something special. The goal was clear: celebrate a decade of Spotify Down Under with a nostalgic twist, while still paying tribute to the brand’s roots in music culture.
The nuts and bolts.
To deliver on that brief, we crafted the ultimate 90s throwback party with a heavy dose of hip-hop—a genre that continues to dominate Spotify playlists worldwide. The venue, Riley Street Garage, was transformed into a vibrant celebration of sneaker culture, streetwear, and the golden era of music.
From live mural artists painting custom pieces in real-time to dynamic, custom projections splashed across the walls, we brought the spirit of the 90s alive. We even created nine bespoke animated Spotify icons, which guests could choose from to print onto personalised tote bags at our pop-up customisation station—a playful nod to both nostalgia and the brand’s personalisation ethos.
The entire night was designed to let the team break free from the present, let loose, and dive into a simpler time when hip-hop and street culture ruled. The music was curated to perfection, blending throwback hits with modern Spotify favourites, and the vibe was electric.
For one night, Spotify employees didn’t just celebrate 10 years—they celebrated music, culture, and everything that makes Spotify a driving force in their lives. The event was a perfect fusion of nostalgia and brand storytelling, ensuring Spotify’s 10th anniversary was one to remember.
